The spine & extremities are darkened & the joints are rubbed. The leather of the spine is dried out & cracking & there are remnants of a paper label near the tail. [iv], xxix & pages [30]-374; and xv & pages [16]-297. There is an owner's ink name & date on the front endpaper. There is occasional foxing & staining, especially to the prelims & rear blanks, with a very few markings & notations in the text. Very good. <p>The first American edition of each work.<p>This is the "July, August, and September, 1846" volume of "The Law Library" series, No. 55.

There is occasional light foxing & the edges of the pastedowns & endpapers are darkened. Very good. <p>First edition, limited to 500 copies. The text is in French.

There is a crease to the top corner and top edge of the first few leaves with some minor faint dampstaining to the the top of Betts' portrait and the following page. Very good. October 23, 1930., 1930.. Good. - Sepia-toned magazine portrait, 5-3/8 inches high by 4-1/4 inches wide, mounted on a 6--3/4 inch high by 4-5/8 inch wide card. Inscribed and signed on the mount below the portrait: "To Seymour Halpern, with the best wishes of / John Bassett Moore / Oct. 23, 1930." Tiny fragments of gray paper are visible along the edges of the mount where it has been removed from an album. There is a narrow vertical line of light rubbing down part of the photograph with some minor soiling to the mount. Good. A three-quarter length portrait of the white-haired and bearded Moore, seated, and wearing a dark three-piece suit and tie with a double gold chain hung across his chest.John Bassett Moore {1860-1947) was an American lawyer, author and professor and a Republican politician. The leather is rubbed, scuffed & darkened and is dried out & cracking with small pieces out. There are the remnants of a handwritten label on the spine & the adjacent edges of the covers. 318 [i.e. 386] pages. The pagination is irregular, following the paging of the original London edition of 1701. There are remnants of paper adhering to the pastedowns & there is scattered foxing & staining. Good. <p>First American edition.<p>From the library of a nineteenth-century lawyer whose name is penned at the top of the title page & who has made annotations on the rear blank.

There are small pieces out of the head & tail of the spine, and damage to the bottom edge of the rear cover and to the bottom edges of the last part of the book, with no loss of text. Pages i-xv & [16]-479 plus errata page. As issued, pages 290 to 295 are repeated in their numbering. There are previous owner's names penned in ink on the front endpaper. and a few ink notes. There is scattered foxing & light staining throughout with some creases. Good only. <p>The alphabetically arranged material, which includes sections on bastardy, bigamy, dogs ["it is not a felony to steal dogs, which are of a base nature"], the poor, rape, slaves, women and wrecks, gives quite a comprehensive view of society at the time.

Softcover, printed self-wraps, removed from a larger collection of bound pamphlets in the distant past. 19 pages. The cover page is lightly soiled and slightly darkened with stab marks along the spine. Very good. Second edition. The first edition was published in the same year by Joann Jacob Braun in Giessen. It consisted of 18 pages rather than the 19 pages of the second edition. The colophon gives the publication date as May 17, 1756.The author has dedicated the work to Bernard Frideric Rudolph Laun.RARE in commerce.

Hardcover, bound in a full calf binding titled on a leather label on the spine. An additional leather label with the number "8" is mounted on the spine. The covers are rubbed and scuffed with a few small stains. The spine is chipped with pieces out near the head and the bottom label is missing. The pagination is as follows: pages [i]-vi, [2], [1]-269, [1-3], and [271]-526. The hinges are cracked and the first and last few pages are lightly darkened and foxed. Very good.
