The spine & extremities are darkened & the joints are rubbed. The leather of the spine is dried out & cracking & there are remnants of a paper label near the tail. [iv], xxix & pages [30]-374; and xv & pages [16]-297. There is an owner's ink name & date on the front endpaper. There is occasional foxing & staining, especially to the prelims & rear blanks, with a very few markings & notations in the text. Very good. <p>The first American edition of each work.<p>This is the "July, August, and September, 1846" volume of "The Law Library" series, No. 55.

Pages i-xv & [16]-479 plus errata page. As issued, pages 290 to 295 are repeated in their numbering. There are previous owner's names penned in ink on the front endpaper. and a few ink notes. There is scattered foxing & light staining throughout with some creases. Good only. <p>The alphabetically arranged material, which includes sections on bastardy, bigamy, dogs ["it is not a felony to steal dogs, which are of a base nature"], the poor, rape, slaves, women and wrecks, gives quite a comprehensive view of society at the time.

Hardcover, bound in a full calf binding titled on a leather label on the spine. An additional leather label with the number "8" is mounted on the spine. The covers are rubbed and scuffed with a few small stains. The spine is chipped with pieces out near the head and the bottom label is missing. The pagination is as follows: pages [i]-vi, [2], [1]-269, [1-3], and [271]-526. The hinges are cracked and the first and last few pages are lightly darkened and foxed. Very good.

The joints are worn & the head & tail of the spine are chipped. vi & 557 pages plus 4-page publisher's catalog. The pastedowns & endpapers are unevenly darkened & there is an owner's bookplate on the front pastedown. There is a small stain to the fore-edge. The top half of page 519 is heavily creased with a tear to its top edge & there is a short tear to the front edge of the flyleaf. Good only. <p>First edition.
