Near Fine. pp 177 A most attractive illustrated record of one year (1980) in the life of Sir Hugh Casson, President of the Royal Academy of Arts, with author's signature in pen on white card tipped in to ffep. The book is beautifully illustrated with "gentle and fresh" watercolours by Casson along with pen and ink cartoons surrounding the text. Very good, bound in its original brown cloth; edges spotted, internally the text is fresh and crisp; the pictorial dust jacket is near fine, protected by a cellophane wrapper. Ownership stamp to front pastedown and some annotated red dots beside the illustrations. A most attractive copy. Near Fine 1981

Hugh Casson describes his diary in characteristically modest terms; ' a brief illustrated record of a full and fascinating year in the service of a great institution. His diary is, in fact, neither brief nor merely an illustrated record. It is a remarkable insight into the exacting public life led by Britain's foremost ambassador of the arts. There is a mark on the front pastedown where sticky tape has been removed, there is also a large written 'D' on the back pastedown. The dust jacket shows wear to its head at the top of the spine and corners, there is also discoloured sticky tape on the front flap. A good, tight copy..
