Chambers' first collection following his most famous work, "The King in Yellow," published the previous year. Light blue boards with gold, cream and orange imprint on the cover. Bumped and rubbed with a touch of wear at the corners and spine ends. Gilt to the upper edge of the text block. Spine damp stained with a bit of wrinkling, not affecting the boards or text block. Hinges loose with a bookplate to the front pastedown and light foxing to the end papers.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket. Illus. by Speed, Lancelot (Frontispiece).

Cloth soiled, edgeworn, gently bruised to extremities; faint square shadow at spine. Spine square. Front inner hinge starting; rear FEP missing. Binding else intact, and sound through textblock. Faint remnants of ink transfer at FFEP, as though offset from paper previously laid-in. Occasional thumbing/page-turning smudges in margins, and long white markings across page 141 (do not obscure text). Interior else clean, text unmarked. No jacket; protected in clear plastic dust wrapper.

Front free endpaper has been trimmed out, presumably for owner's privacy, rear endpapers foxed, text block generally clean and sound, edges not trimmed.
