About This Item
New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1896. A collection of eight stories, some in the weird or supernatural vein. Chambers' first collection following his most famous work, "The King in Yellow," published the previous year. Light blue boards with gold, cream and orange imprint on the cover. Bumped and rubbed with a touch of wear at the corners and spine ends. Gilt to the upper edge of the text block. Spine damp stained with a bit of wrinkling, not affecting the boards or text block. Hinges loose with a bookplate to the front pastedown and light foxing to the end papers.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket. Illus. by Speed, Lancelot (Frontispiece).
