Blindstamped cover illustration featuring globe with Arctic region highlighted in white ink, with three red, white and blue flags planted within Arctic region. ? First edition or first thus, with same date on title and copyright pages, and "Published, April, 1907" also on copyright page. Fifth volume in The Geographical Library, as noted on verso of half-title page. With 95 half-tone photographs by the author within the text, and a tissue-guarded frontispiece color illustration by Albert Operti. Two large color folding maps in rear are present and intact, with irregular creasing along edges closest to hinges and short, narrow strip of darkening and minute chips at upper edge of first map. Moderate rubbing along all cover edges and extremities. Spine cloth moderately scuffed. Binding very slightly shaken (heavy text block). Otherwise clean and unworn.
