Crews draws great characters here; Fat Man, the town's impotent king, a Metrecal addict and frightened conservative, Dolly, the town's queen, its seductive virgin. They both battle for control of the land. This is the author's rendition of 'Silent Spring'. 212pp.

Harry Crews." The late Don Kaufmann was a close friend of Crews, a scholar and a noted collector of American literature whose collection was sold in two featured Heritage Auctions recently.
