[17], 2-295, [3], iv-clxviii pp. Contemporary calf with the spine in six compartments, a maroon morocco label lettered in gilt on the spine, a green ribbon bookmark bound in; all edges speckled red. Illustrated with a copper-engraved frontispiece portrait of Waller, with two additional engraved plates, a folding numismatic plate in the rear of the volume, and with engraved head and tailpieces and initials. The front board detached, the spine and rear joint heavily rubbed, the free front endpaper detached but present.

Bound by The French Binders, NY, and signed "H. Hardy, Relieur 1934 G. Pilon Doreur". Binding of full red crushed morocco, a.e.g., the spine with gilt titles and densely gilt panels with dotted rules on the bands, the covers with two sets of double fillet frames with corner pieces, fancy dentelles. Important binding and important printing of Waller.

Edmund Waller, FRS was an English poet and politician who was Member of Parliament for various constituencies between 1624 and 1687, and one of the longest serving members of the English House of Commons. Leather boards edgeworn, rubbed and scuffed, corners and spine ends bumped, five raised bands to spine with small maroon title box with gilt lettering and three fine lines to head and foot of box, closed edges browned, internal gutters cracked, edges of endpapers browned, two ink inscriptions to fep,one dated 1896, 293 pages clean, unmarked, text clear to read, text block dimpled, final two pages list the books printed and sold by Robert and Andrew Foulis..
