Front and rear hinges are tight and uncracked. Presentation inscription inside front cover. Neat book plate of previous owner on free eind paper. "Some of these discourses were preached in the Brooklyn Tabernacle, and other in the Academy of Music, while our new church was being built." 33 classic sermons by noted pulpit orator. First us edition thus with single date of 1874 appearing on the title and copyright page, though the title page does state "photographically reported and revised". Front pastedown contains two bookplates, one from E. R. Donehoo and the second from Geo. P. Donehoo. (George P. Donehoo, 1862-1934, was a noted Pennsylvania author, Dr. Elijah Ramsey Donehoo was his father).
