About This Item

New York: Random House, 1971. SIGNED BY AUTHOR on first free endpaper. and dated 1971. Very good+ (two small stains on page edges) in very good dust jacket (moderately edgeworn) Raskin explores the relationship between an author and his society, i.e., the impact of each on the other. He explores the work of Kipling, Conrad, Forster, Lawrence and Joyce Cary. The greatest contrast in this relationship is perhaps between Kipling and Conrad, the one an upholder of the imperialist tradition, and the other an "underminer." 335 pages. . Signed by Author. 1st Edition. Hard Cover.
