In a full calf Bicker's signed prize binding.Also published under the title 'Shakespeare's Heroines, Essays on Shakespeare's Female Characters', this is a charming work of literary criticism, exploring the female character's of Shakespeare's canon.The characters discussed range from those of 'intellect' such as Portia from The Merchant of Venice, and characters of passion and imagination such as Viola from Twelfth Night.With a small number of full page illustrations.Undated; dated 1880 via Jisc. In a signed full calf prize binding. Rubbing to joints, and slight fading to back strip. Front hinge starting, with evidence of bookplate removal to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound.
