London: Methuen, 1901. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. A.H. Buckland. A romance based on Quaker history.Believed to be first edition and first printing. In good olive green cloth boards, gilt titles to front and spine; rondel with bust of Quaker on front, standing Quaker on spine cloth. The covers are tightly bound and clean, with signs of repair to lower spine, corners frayed. The free end papers are tanned; the paste downs only very lightly tanned. Previous repair made to gutter of end papers with tape. Age-toned and deckled cut edges. The text block is tightly bound, some pages - especially the prelims - are foxed, but pages are not tanned. With 7 illustrations by A.H. Buckland (frontispiece missing). Catalogue from publisher at rear, with interesting slip to subscribers from 'Mudie's Select Library'.
