Inscribed to one of his best-selling authors on the dedication page: "To John Kendrick Bangs Whose kind commendation of this work has been more helpful & encouraging to me than all the other notices put together, Affectionately, J. Henry. Sept. 26, 1912." Laid in is a three-page Autograph Letter Initialed ("J.H.H.") to Bangs sending page proofs (not present) for Bangs to review. Bangs receives several mentions in the text. A nice association.
