This is definitely Not a former library book. The blue cloth covers show some fading along the edges and just a hint of edgewear. This old book looks and feels great! Illustrated with four full color plates, 40 black-and-white photographs, and numerous drawings in the text. Bookplates of Ruby Fleischmann (signed in the plate "Sydney E. Letts, Pinx. Sculp") and Conrad B. Link on front pastedown and endpaper, respectively; penciled signature of Ruby Fleischmann above her bookplate. According to the website of the Buckinghamshire Gardens Trust, Fleischmann was Chairman of the National Gardens Scheme and, "at its peak," her own garden was "notable for its early collection of 'old fashioned' and species rose varieties .... comparable with Vita Sackville West's collection at Sissinghurst, as well as other renowned collections." She is mentioned in a number of horticultural works, most notably in those of Graham Stuart Thomas.
