Mild wear and bumping to spine, board edges and corners, with tanning to spine. Minor scuffing and marking to boards. Book has a forward lean.

Moderate tanning to spine and edges. Boards are notably bowed. Book has a prominent forward lean. Moderate water marks to boards and spine.

In good red cloth boards, black titles and decoration to front and spine cloth. Fry's logo on back cover. Tightly bound and clean covers; corners and spine cloth ends slightly rubbed. Tanned end papers, name and date and ink blot on front free end paper. Very tanned cut edges. The text block is firm, tanned pages, especially around the edges.

No date. ( British Library catalogue states 1920.) Presumed 1st U.K. edition. Good for age but a bit loose and with some discolouration to page edges in somewhat bumped and marked boards with fading to spine. No dustjacket.

Presumed first edition, very good+ in a very good dust jacket. 1925 presentation "For Attendance & Good Conduct" in ink on front endpaper; minor soiling to foredge of page block. The jacket, with four color illustration of two girls playing tennis on a grass court, has a little loss at corners and spine ends, and a larger chip at the bottom of the rear panel, none of which affect any lettering. The book has grayish cloth with black line drawings on front board and spine, plus lettering on spine. A tight, square copy.
