Goodall's celebrated book about the first ten years of her time as anthropologist Louis Leakey's designated chimp researcher at Gombe. Goodall became famous with this book such that if you know what this book is you'll know that this is the copy that you want. This is the UK first edition, first printing, of this book meaning a true first edition, with US edition following later. I'm going to say NF because I grade conservatively but the book is in 1971 bookstore condition free of major and even minor faults, while the dust jacket has faint discoloration on the front flap which I am only mentioning because there is noting better to talk about. Features many full page black and white photos and several full page color photos.

Light pencil annotations in the margins more or less thru 'out the book by someone who might have have worked with or in the same field as J G .; (2). Name on 1/2 title of prev owner Katherine Aubertin (?) Title page has (3)'' For Kate "- apparently not J G's writing , also not same writing as Katherine Aubertin.. (4). A signed inscription from J G " Together we can make this a better world for all living things / Jane Goodall ". included is a card (5) "To dearest Katyline (sic) wishing you a happy day on the 8th" (presumably Oct since the card is dated Sept 25th 1981). Also NOT in J G's hand but left in since it might help to identify "Kate" the #3.

SIGNED BY JANE GOODALL directly to the title page. Also briefly inscribed as shown. First printing Collins UK edition. Very good condition with clean bright text and breathtaking photography by Jane's husband Hugo. Some color fading on the boards and edgewear on the dust jacket, but less than usual for this book and still looks terrific with a new mylar cover.
