Sixth & revised edition of this informative catalogue guide to the 1876 Centennial Exhibition main building which encompassed 21.5 acres, constructed of prefabricated pieces, with a wood and iron frame resting on a substructure of 672 stone piers, and observation towers. It did manage to remain as an exhibit and community space until being demolished in 1881.

Large 8vo, publisher's decorated green cloth gilt, very good, light wear to corners and spine ends, inner hinges nearly imperceptibly strengthened. Inscribed to A. Wilson Norris from Charles Gordon-Lennox, 6th Duke of Richmond etc. and Lord President of the Council that published this book. Norris, the recipient, an attorney and Civil War veteran, was at that the time a reporter for the State Supreme Court; he would go on to become a state senator. The inscription is probably secretarial. Parts I & II bound in one volume. With double-page chromolithograph of the British Commission staff headquarters in Fairmount Park. Part I is a detailed catalogue of the British Section, both fine arts and manufacturers' products, illustrated with in-text engravings plus folding color map of Queensland Australia from Brisbane going north.
