Wheeler is included in "A Woman of the Century" which lists 1470 biographical sketches of prominent 19th century American Women, compiled by Frances Willard and Mary Livermore, published in 1893. In their introduction, the editors claim the, "nineteenth century is woman's century." The reference tool was intended to fill a "Vacant niche in the reference library." Wheeler writes under her printed name, "Because I ... a dear ‘Schoolgirl' of any one in Smith College I write for you with pleasure, Cora Stuart Wheeler." THANET, OCTAVE [FRENCH, ALICE]. A charming sketch of a girl sitting on a fence seen from the back signed above the sketch, "Octave French, " 12mo ., Aug. 22, 1902. As a popular and successful writer, Alice French whose pseudonym was Octave Thanet, gained national success for her short fiction and novels written in the "local color" genre popular in the late 1860's to the early 20th century. Born in Massachusetts, she spent much of her adult life in Iowa. Her politics were conservative and her stories championed the status quo, however, she gained renewed interest for her sexual orientation. She lived openly with her widowed friend, Jane Allen Crawford. Autograph

Allen Ginsberg's Acceptance Speech for 1974 National Book Award, Printed and Signed by Ginsberg. Also signed by Peter Orlovsky. Allen Ginsberg's Printed and Signed Speech is titled, "'The Fall of America' Wins a Prize." The printed speech is a folded broadside creating a booklet with each of four pages measuring 5 1/2 x 9 inches, copyright by Ginsberg, dated 1974 and produced with the Gotham Book Mart and Gallery in New York City. The fourth page explains the booklet. "This is the text of Allen Ginsberg's acceptance speech for the National book Award in Poetry delivered by Peter Orlovsky on April 18th, 1972, at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center, New York City." Ginsberg signed under his printed name on page 3, "Allen Ginsberg," and his partner, Peter Orlovsky, signed below, "Peter Orlovsky, N.Y.C. May 29, 1976...." Fine condition. "I do land an article in Vogue - a fashionable, popular women's magazine which prints only stuff that in interest at least is amusing - instead of waiting for the article to appear and seeing whether you couldn't wave it in a few editorial faces with the remark" what did I tell you?" or words to that effect, you amiably wash your hands of me....."
