Chasing Rainbows is a 1930 American Pre-Code romantic musical film directed by Charles Reisner, starring Bessie Love and Charles King, and released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. The supporting cast features Jack Benny, Marie Dressler, and Polly Moran. This was Jack Benny's first dramatic role in a motion picture.
It was filmed in black and white, but had two Technicolor sequences, which were lost in the 1965 MGM vault fire. The rest of the movie survives and is on DVD in the Warner Archive Collection.
The movie introduced the song Happy Days Are Here Again, by Jack Yellen and Milton Ager. This song has been recorded hundreds of times, but its most famous version is by Barbra Streisand, who really laid claim to it.
This is four sheets of music plus covers. There are 3 little tears and a crease; a framer can do a nice job with it though.

1.That Melody of Love, from MGM's 1927 production 'Love'.
Love is a silent film directed by Edmund Goulding and released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. MGM made the film in order to capitalize on its winning romantic team of Greta Garbo and John Gilbert who had starred in the 1926 blockbuster, Flesh and the Devil.
Taking advantage of the star power, a drama was scripted based on Tolstoy's Anna Karenina. It provided the public with a taste of Gilbert-Garbo eroticism that would never again be matched. The publicity campaign for the film was one of the largest up to that time, and the title was changed from the original, Heat.
It is 3 pieces of music + covers. The music is perfectly usable; the cover is not in great shape and would need professional attention.

Unread--Pristine Condition

I have found several copies of Priscilla on Monday, but this is the only Priscilla on Thursday. It is in its original wrapper, and it is in lovely condition.
This piece was purchased in its brown wrapper, used, and then carefully re-wrapped. Someone who knew what he/she was doing made notes, and lyric changes, on the pages (lightly, in pencil). There are wear marks at the edges, but it is a lovely piece for a collector, and a player.
Priscilla's Week
was a series of pieces published in 1928, and there was a separate one for every day. They were written by Mathilde Bilbro (1870-1958). The following bio is from the Alabama Women's Hall of Fame.
The most prolific of Alabama composers, her published works include sheet form piano pieces, pianologues, song stories, piano duets and trios, and complete books of piano music collections.

As you can see, there is a bump to the front cover and a very small ink mark to the front endpaper. The spine is starting to loosen a little.

The is a nice little Modern Library copy of Pere Goriot & Eugenie Grandet, published in 1950. It is two novels in one book.
Pere Goriot (or Old Goriot)is an 1835 novel by Honoré de Balzac (1799–1850), included in the Scènes de la vie privée section of his novel sequence La Comédie humaine. Set in Paris in 1819, it follows the intertwined lives of three characters: the elderly doting Goriot, a mysterious criminal-in-hiding named Vautrin, and a naive law student named Eugène de Rastignac. It is considered Balzac's most important novel and it has often been adapted for film and the stage. It also is the base of the French expression 'Rastignac', which is a term for a social climber willing to do anything to get ahead.
Eugenie Grandet is an 1833 novel which Balzac continued into his Human Comedy series. It is the story of a young woman whose wealthy but tight-fisted father tries to arrange a financially advantageous marriage for her when she falls in love with her penniless cousin.

Secret of the Waving Bamboos (no 'The') This book is undated; it was published after the war and the author died in 1950, so c 1947. Includes 13 black and white illustrations.The dust jacket is in excellent condition, with normal wear marks. The book has obviously not been read. It has a pale blue tweed cover with scarlet type on the spine. Aside from a faint trace of red pencil on the inside back cover it is absolutely pristine. Not a lot is known about Arthur Waterhouse. He wrote several best-selling books for teens, mostly adventure tales, and several stories about horses and dogs. Many of his stories were broadcast on radio, as well as translated into other languages. He was from Lancashire, lived in Leeds and died in Blackpool. This is a first edition (UK 1975) of Fighting Ships of World War II, written by the British historian John Norton Westwood. It is an interesting selection of various types of ships from the navies of the warring powers, with descriptions and details. There is a photograph or table on every page.160 pages. I have the dust jacket but it's in terrible condition. The original ownersigned the front endpaper. There is a rub to the edgeof the cover, and a a couple of faint marks on the cover, hence the price. The inside is in perfect condition.

This is a program from a 1976 production of No Sex Please, We're British at the Strand Theatre, London. This is a famous play that the critics panned, but audiences loved--it ran from 1971 to 1987 - 6,761 performances.
This production starred Doris Hare, McDonald Hobley and Arthur Howard.
Mint condition.

J Howard Brown was a British author who wrote very popular books for boys. Other titles include Tubby, or Right About Face!, and The Master of the Rebel First.
Whitedown Chums was originally published in 1908. This is a very high-quality reprint published in 1930 by S.W. Partridge & Co, London, as Part of the British Boys Library, and under the imprint Illustrated Reward Books.
It is 130 pages of extremely thick paper. It is 5" x 7.5". The spine is unbroken—it was never read. The pages are clean; there are no marks of any kind.
The dust jacket is in extremely good condition, with brilliant fresh colour and just a tiny amount of shelf wear. And there's a small hole in the jacket, over the spine
Under the dust cover, there are lovely dark red boards etched with black image of boys playing rugby. The spine is dark red etched with black type and a black design. There's a tiny white mark on the spine—'not sure what it is; it can probably be removed.
