He asks various birds to fly him there; however, all refuse except the crane. The crane remembers his own difficulty in learning to fly. They arrive at the moon and rabbit gets his wish. The crane's legs are lengthened because they were stretched by having the rabbit dangle from them as he flew. The story is a version of "How an animal got its ________." The animal illustrations and the night sky coupled with the figurative language create an appealing tale.
