Description:
Sweden 2000. The artist had made a name for herself in contemporary Swedish art as the “painter of wounds” when she was commissioned to “decorate” the Institute of Education at the University of Umeå. She has also been designated as a minimalist, a concretist and even as an expressionist. In her earlier paintings she alludes to both Nordic and Greek mythology, arousing feelings of running fluids, blood, sick and nausea. Her later work focuses on the interplay with the architectural space. The paintings could be viewed as abstract compositions of black circles, squares, rectangles and at the same time could be seen as both “realistic” pictures of house fronts and as metaphoric human faces. Beautiful photographs of her work are included in this thought provoking book., English/ Swedish, Year2000, Illust. B/W19, Illust. Color53, ISBN 9187214997, Code 5840. Clothbound with Jacket, In Pristine Condition, Bio. Bibl. Pages 173, Size 11”x 8”
