In 1942 the 1st AAD moved to NW NSW to take part in preparatory exercises for war in North Africa. The 20000 men of the Division were never to collectively serve, as the Division was reorganised and half its members sent to Western Austalia until disbanded in 1943. The book then follows the stories of some of the men and units of the Division until the war's conclusion. From WA to Qld, New Guinea , Bougainville and Borneo.
