Founded in 1873 by James Scripps, the author (an editor at the News), details the history of the newspaper and the city that it covered. Contains an index and a bibliography in the rear. Two photo sections. Original blue cloth spine with white spine lettering over red paper-covered covers. Detroit. Very Good with no dust jacket. 1923. Pamphlet. A small pamphlet (one page, folded) giving the program for the evening which was held at the Federation of Women's Clubs (Sec. Boulevard at Hancock Ave.) on April 30th, 1923. The musical program included classical pieces performed by a number of women. Detroit: R. L. Polk & Company. Very Good with no dust jacket. 1987. Reprint. Softcover. This is a facsimilie reprint of the rare 1837 original edition which was published by R. L. Polk in Detroit in honor of Michigan's sesquicentennial. It is a cornerstone of any Michigan collection as it was published in the year Michigan was admitted to the Union and provides a great deal of historical and factual information regarding the state and Detroit in addition to a list of household heads, their address and occupation. This primary source material provides much more information on individuals than the United States Census of 1830 which only lists the names of household heads, omitting place of residence and occupation. Ann Arbor: William L. Clements Library. Very Good-. 1944. First Edition. Softcover. Father Levaduox was the priest at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Detroit, and his eulogy was delivered in French. While Detroit and the region containing modern Michigan was surrendered to the United States in the Treaty of 1783, the actual transfer did not occur until Detroit was surrendered by the British to Gen. Anthony Wayne. One year later, Father Levadoux delivered his eulogy. This pamphlet was published in an edition of 2000 copies. Edited and translated by Edward B. Ham. The covers are blue, stapled wrappers with black cover printing. Described as Bulletin #40. There is a ring mark on the rear wrapper cover, else this is a clean and tight copy with no interior or exterior markings; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 28 pages .

Each photo is captioned with a one paragraph history of the major building(s) shown in each view. Anyone interested in modern Detroit's origins will certainly want to read this book. Previous owner name on end paper, else a clean book in publisher's glossy pictorial covers which are the same as the dust jacket.
