Description:
New York: G P Putnam's Sons, 1970. Alfred Emmanuel Smith 1873 -1944 - elected Governor of New York State - Democratic candidate for the Presidency in 1928, the first Roman Catholic to be nominated for this office by a major political party. The fact that he was defeated after one of the most scurrilous and savagely fought campaigns in American history does not lessen his importance as a trailblazer or as the prototype of the self-made men who achieved enormous political influence and power. The First Hurrah is a full-scale account of Alfred E. Smith's life and career - the absorbing story of an unusual man, a legendary figure in his own day, the politician par excellence. It is a biography that reviews an entire life with clarity and objectivity. A section of photographs provided, notes on sources, selected bibliography and an index. A bright copy.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Near Fine/Very Good.

Description:
New York: Random House, 1996. Advance praise for this book from the world's most famous Nazi-hunter... Simon Wiesenthal: "There are lots of good reasons for reading this book. One may be interested in learning about the inner structure of the German Neo-Nazi scene and in obtaining as much information as possible, or it may simply be curiosity to learn about the experiences of a Neo-Nazi from a firsthand account. Ingo Hasselbach depicts the various stages of his life: his childhood in East Berlin, how he came to join the Neo-Nazi, and the factors that led to his fanaticism. He describes his Kamerads, the day-to-day activities of a Neo-Nazi, the training and indoctrination through false models, and - just as openly - his growing doubts about his ideology and finally his decision to drop out of the scene. In this book, the author has found the courage to take a stand against his past". A bright, square book in a photo price-intact dust jacket. A very nice copy.. First Edition. Hard… Read More
