Wrigley, TN: N.p., 1990. Archive of over 175 photographs relating to the Wrigley, Tennessee, chapter of the Rare Blood Motorcycle club, a predominantly African American motorcycle club, with at least nine other (largely African American) motorcycle clubs identified in the photographs. 175 photographs are housed in a generic maroon three-ring photograph album, with each photograph affixed to adhesive leaves with plastic overlays. Nine additional photographs are laid in, including an 8 x 12 enlargement of a photograph found in the album. Much of the archive documents gatherings at the group's clubhouse and offers an unfiltered and intimate look inside a southern working-class African American subculture. A handful of photographs include personal photographs of family and friends associated with the organization and the unknown compilers. N.p.: N.p., 1970. Archive of 32 vintage photographs documenting the October 20, 1970 collision of two trains along the Chicago, Rock Island, and Pacific Railroad line in Raytown, Missouri. Also included in the archive is a single broadside reward poster offering $5000 for information pertaining to the accident. According to a contemporary newspaper article which appeared in nearby Jackson County's Independence Examiner, the accident was believed to have been caused by juvenile vandalism to a nearby track switch. The collision and subsequent derailment resulted in the death of one engineer, whose partial body is visible in several photographs. The photographs in the archive range from close-up shots of the mangled train cars and tracks to distance views of the surrounding woods. New York: United States Rubber Company, 1950. Archive of fifteen vintage photographs of automobile tire testing by the US Rubber Company at the Lancaster, California proving grounds, circa 1950s. All with United States Rubber Company credit stamps and identification number stamps on the versos, and fourteen with printed mimeo snipes affixed to the versos. The tires presented in the collection are noted as US Royal Air Ride Tires and US Royal Master Tires, with the test vehicles averaging 760 miles a day in the desert terrain of the Lancaster proving grounds. Tests depicted in the photographs appear to assess the tires' endurance against a number of roadway factors, including flint causing chipping, steel cones, and excessive mud, and tracks designed to test the tires' performance with skidding, zig-zagging, and driving over potholes. 8.5 x 10 inches. N.p.: N.p., 1930. Archive of eight vintage photographs documenting the harvesting, processing, packaging, and shipping of Sunkist Growers, Orland, California oranges, circa 1930s. Mimeo snipes on the versos of each, seven with a PIX Incorporated and Westport library stamps on the versos, and one with an American Photo Service stamp on the verso. One of the largest marketing cooperatives in the US, Sunkist Growers was formed in 1893, a time when citrus acreage had increased in California by more then ten fold, and today is one of California's largest land owners and the largest fresh produce shipper in the US, representing more than 6,000 members. 10 x 8 inches. Indianapolis: O'Dell and Shields Studios, 1956. Two vintage photo albums documenting Dean Van Lines Indy car team before, during, and after the Indianapolis 500 in 1955 and 1956, with legendary driver Jimmy Bryan at the helm. Several photographs stamped on the verso by the O'Dell and Shields Studios of Indianapolis, longtime contract photographers for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Dean, a California moving company magnate and noted championship car owner, began his association with Bryan in 1954, when the driver would score his first significant win, the AAA National Championship. The pair would win an astonishing 17 national championship races over the course of the next four years. All materials housed in a string-bound scrapbook, with captions in manuscript ink adjacent to most photographs. Of particular note in the archive are five photographs of African American "outlaw" racer Rajo Jack, the first driver to integrate into the all-white sport-nearly two decades before Jackie Robinson broke the "color barrier" in Major League baseball in 1947. Born Dewey Gatson in 1905, Jack would never have been able to compete on a national level in the American Automobile Association (AAA) due to his race, so he instead competed in the American Racing Association (ARA), the largest racing body to allow him to compete-making him an "outlaw" racer in the eyes of the AAA, and largely restricting him to West Coast racing. Hollywood: Republic Pictures, 1938. Collection of five vintage studio still photographs from the 1938 film. Featuring images of Ralph Byrd, Doris Weston, Ward Bond, and others. Written for the screen by Nathanael West. Ralph Byrd and Ward Bond play two rough and tumble truckers who agree to take a dangerous load of dynamite to a city in danger of being flooded when a nearby dam breaks. Byrd, best known for his role in Republic's "Dick Tracy" series, was here being groomed to play better roles for the company. Joe Kane's first non-Western feature film. Set in California. 10 x 8 inches. Very Good plus, with pinhole tears and occasional light foxing to the borders.

Reitman's 1937 autobiography of "Boxcar Bertha" and her lover Big Bill Shelly, two early twentieth century train robbers who gradually became involved in the plight of railway workers in the American South. Director Martin Scorsese's second feature film. Shot on location in Camden and Reader, Arkansas. 10 x 8 inches. Very Good plus, with a small hole to the bottom right corner, and a short closed tear to the top left corner.

A superb history of the Bugatti family: Carlo (the father, a furniture designer), Rembrandt Bugatti (son, a sculptor), and Ettore and Jean (son and grandson, automobile designers). Based on Bohumil Hrabal's 1965 novel, about a young man working at a German-occupied train station in Czechoslovakia during World War II. A key entry in Czechoslovak New Wave film, poignantly asserting that the Czech people were part of an oppressive system during the war, hitting the mark with sly wit and a peculiar innocence. Set and shot on location in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. 9.5 x 7 inches. Near Fine.

Detroit: General Motors, 1969. Collection of 48 vintage black and white publicity photographs of the Chevrolet lineup of cars and trucks for 1969. The collection appears to be the entire Chevrolet lineup of vehicles for 1969, and were likely for use in print advertising. One, the Chevrolet Impala Sport Coupe, has annotations in manuscript orange wax pencil to the recto, likely specifications for print, and manuscript pencil annotations on the verso. The photographs feature 25 side views, 20 3/4 front views, two 3/4 rear views, and one overhead view. The Chevelle SS 396 Sport Coupe features a 3/4 front view as well as a side view, and the Custom El Camino includes a duplicate 3/4 view photograph. Uncommon to find in such a large grouping, the collection includes three convertibles coupes, ten sedans, one convertible sedan, six station wagons, two Suburbans, two vans, four pickup trucks, four cab trucks, and three utility vans. Allentown, PA: Bonney Forge and Tool Works, 1940. Collection of nine vintage photographs of Bonney Tools sales vans, bound with a plastic comb binding, circa late 1940s. Pencil annotation on the front wrapper of "Master Set / Bonney Forge and Tool Photos / M-9 - M-11." The nine photographs in the collection feature four views of the full exterior, capturing at least two different examples of the modified circa 1948 Chevrolet Dubl-Duti Step-Vans, one rear exterior photograph looking into the modified loading bay, and four views of the precise and elaborate display of Bonney Tools above cabinets in the modified loading bay. Two license plates are visible in the photographs, one from West Virginia and one from Pennsylvania. The converted vans served as mobile sales trucks for the Bonney Tool and Forge Co., utilizing the bed as a mobile sales floor for the driver/salesman, who sold the tools directly from the van to mechanic shops and garages, a practice still in use today. Collection of 13 vintage photographs of a Packard 200 (though the accompanying envelope notes the car as a Packard Patrician) taken over the course of a factory endurance test drive to California, circa 1955. Included with the photographs is a copied "Design Analysis" sheet, noting the various mechanical issues experienced over the course of the trip, along with the business card of Packard research project engineer George H. Joly. A set of photographs shot by an uncredited professional photographer, capturing the Patrician's exterior and engine components. In 1955, the entire senior line of Packards (including the Patrician, one of Packard's top-shelf luxury models) would receive an extensive design update, and the Patrician was offered as a four-door sedan only. Photographs 8 x 10 inches. Generally Near Fine. Housed in a Very Good plus manila envelope with manuscript ink annotations on the flap and recto.
