Description:
Zürich: Malthea-Verlag, 1928. Second Edition. Large octavo (25cm). Red cloth, lettered in gilt on spine and front cover; 5 p.l., iv, 523, [7]pp; 160 inserted leaves of photographic plates (halftones), not included in pagination; numerous text illustrations. Small split to cloth at upper spine, with amateur glue repair, else a clean, well-preserved copy of the second, expanded edition. Encyclopedic survey, by the prominent Viennese social critic, of Bolshevist culture, written ten years after the October Revolution. Published in English in 1927 as "The Mind and Face of Bolshevism." Fülöp-Miller's analysis is generally sympathetic, though not written from a Marxist perspective and perhaps somewhat lacking in revolutionary enthusiasm -- facts for which he was taken to task by Marxist reviewers, including Upton Sinclair. Price reflects increased domestic shipping costs for this very heavy book. Overseas shipping will be quoted at cost.
