Text in English and Spanish. 260 pages, illustrated with several photographic images, plus (40) pages of ads (including one for Blake & Mackenzie who advertise as both lithograph and letterpress printers. One of the best books on the mines of Mexico in the 19th century. It even speaks of the financing and how the protections were in place to protect against Col. William C. Greene who would create the Cananea Copper Bubble. A fine bright copy bound in full leather like clotjh lettered and decorated in gilt. An exceptionally nice copy. As the author of these tales was aging during the time of publication, he simply wanted to share his knowledge in hopes someday, someone will find the treasures he had not found and acknowledge his stories were true. A fine copy staple bound in stiff pictorial wraps lettered and decorated in black. No creasing, names, or bookplates.

The Lynx was situated in the mining region between Walker and Poland in the heart of the highly mineralized Bradshaw Mountains, with the creek itself a tributary of the Hassayampa River, a veritable synonym for gold. While many assume the laying of track was a simple matter, it was often delayed by poor engineering and the lack of trained trackmen. The Book of Rules in the back is one of the most carefully written guides to railroad engineers. The questions of durability as well as the major issue of water's corrosive aspect are dealt with, with many charts and basic math needed to be an effective designer of mine tracks. Bound in light yellow pictorial cloth depicting a mineral in brown against black background lettering in black and brown. A near fine copy.

Because of forest fires and timber being used for building, timber prices were soaring so much that a new mining process had to be found. The use of steel and masonry for the support of mine shafts and tunnels has long been practiced in Europe. This book also covers explosives and their use in mining, and the priciples of blasting ground, water drainage, compressed air, stoping and other mining processes used throughout the mining industry. Bound in maroon cloth,spine lettering gilt, corners lightly bumped, fading to spine, previous owner's name, bookseller's ticket. A very good copy.

Illustrated by Jimmie Ihms. A scarce book by Oren Arnold whose exploration of the Superstitions and his writing on the literature and folklore of the mountain led the governor to grant him the Distinguished Public Service Award and Phoenix proclaimed him "Man of the Year". After writing "Ghost Gold" and later "Superstition Gold", he began this work which is fiction but rooted in a firsthand knowledge of the area of the Superstitions and their inexhaustible areas still being searched. A fine copy bound in pictorial paper over boards lettering black, in a fine unclipped pictorial dust jacket.

A fine copy in fine publisher's light brown slipcase.

St. Paul; nd (ca.1900): W.C. Riley. . 29 pages. Expanded and revised after W.C. Riley took over the Northern Pacific and controlled the publication of this edition to include a number of Alaska images from Sitka, Juneau, Fort Wrangle to reflect the Yukon Gold Rush and others. There are also images from Butte Montana on mining, and birds-eye photograph of Spokane Falls, Washington Territory. Bound in 1/4 black cloth (old cloth tape repair) over maroon decorative cloth lettered and decorated in gilt, edges rubbed. Very nice illustrations.

Morenci Miners Union, 1984. Quarto. 12 pages. The Morenci Miners Union published this work to describe the Phelps Dodge Strike situation as of May 1984. It includes the strike timeline, updates to supporters, and a list of lawsuits pending. It asks for contributions to the USWA Local 616, Strike and Defense Fund of Clifton, Arizona, or the Copper Relief Fund of Tucson. Has the two page letter of Angel Rodriguez of USWA, Local 616 detailing the methods Phelps Dodge used to stop the strike. OCLC records the only institutional copy in the rare book section of the Denver Public Library.
