The town was established on land that was taken from the Haudenosaunee Oneida Nation after the Revolutionary War despite their support of the American cause. The land was sold to Dutch speculators who constituted the Holland Land Company in payment of war debts. Binding is firm, spine uncreased. Covers are faded. Top edge of text block mottled.
