Starting to crack at the hinges throughout the book but remains reasonably square and tight. Free from owner names, library markings etc the book is in VG clean condition - apart from a dust-stained top edge. The dustjacket is unclipped but is split at the corners with very minor loss of paper at those places. Some minor marks to the rear panel, else a Good or better dustjacket. Uncommon, thus.

Basil Blackwell, 1937. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Fair. Volume 1 in the Tale of Two Worlds series - juvenile fiction intended for girls and set in Puerto Rico. Original green covers with gilt titles on pink-coloured labels at the backstrip. Slightly cocked, corners and spine tip bumped but a VG clean copy which has been well-served by its dustjacket which is price-clipped with a few chips in places.

London: Hamish Hamilton, 1974. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Good. First Printing. Text-block tanned a little but a straight, tight copy - pushed at the spine tips. The dustjacket is shelf-creased along the top edge and slightly tanned at rear panel and along the top edge, inside. A Good unclipped dustjacket.

New York: Grove Press, 1964. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. A very acceptable copy - first issue with price of 3.95 at the front flap and no printing statement at colophon. Blue cloth with white titles at the backstrip, lower corners bumped, rubbing and slight grubbiness to top corners. Spine tips creased - crushed at crown. Minor marks to covers. Off-setting to both pastedowns. Binding firm and square, the block has toned with age. The dustjacket is unclipped with small wear to the spine tips, tiny nick to the crown. The protected jacket is also tanned. Much better than it probably sounds but not a Fine copy, obviously. Still VG, however, and the dustwrapper Near Fine.

A puzzlingly overlooked creation in modern crime fiction, despite the award of the CWA's Silver Dagger award for the fourth installment, Black August. Reading crease to the backstrip and a small patch of cloth-bleed to the inside of the jacket at the crown. Otherwise VG in VG unclipped dustjacket.

A nice, clean copy - spine tips just lightly creased, bump to upper corner of front board. With a fresh block free from owner names etc, pages white. The dustwrapper is not price-clipped but is lightly creased at the spine tips and bumped at the corners. Small split to the bottom corner at the upper board.

The first printing with countdown of 2 4 6 8 10 9 7 5 3 1 at the colophon. The dustjacket is unclipped and also in As New condition with no signs of wear.

An attractive copy of this Roger Brook title in the original publisher's black cloth covers - minor push to the crown, corners lightly rubbed but a VG straight, tight and clean copy with bright gilt titles at the backstrip. The unclipped dustjacket is bright and clean with some minor loss at the corners and at the tail and a short tear to the top edge of the rear panel. Minor print soiling to the rear panel but much better than it sounds - Good++. At the title page the author has written, "With best Wishes from Dennis Wheatley". While signed/inscribed books by this author are by no means rare inscriptions are usually addressed to an individual by name - such generic inscriptions are uncommon.

The author also penned a number of thrillers under the pseudonym Gavin Black. The unclipped, atmospheric dustjacket has some moderate rubbing to the edges and the spine tips and is split at the corners with trifling loss but is still eye-catching and presents well.
