Description:
Paris: the society, 1904. Unpaginated, between sixty and eighty pages plus two fascicles bound in, featuring many artists' renderings of zinc roofing sheets in a variety of styles, mouldings and fastenings ditto. Find a dozen or so plates that show finished work on elaborate older buildings. Leaves measure 10.5x9 inches and are the principal content of this item, which is a hard-cover folder with plain printed external titling. One bound-in booklet, "Peintures au Blanc de Zinc", measures 7.5x5 inches and consists of 16p; the other insert is same size as main contents and features perforated zinc doo-dads with illustrations in silhouette. Banner headings boast of prizes won at industrial expositions. Folder leaves are a bit shaken with age and handling, but further handling remains easy enough, and the clothbacked folder is sound if not beautiful. Laid in find a lengthy holograph letter from "Le Sous-Directeur General" whose signature we cannot read; it is addressed to M.Millard, architecte, and is…

San Francisco: Pacific Novelty Company of San Francisco, 1915. A superior copy of this rather routine photographic treatment. Unpaginated, complete and sound, an oblong softbound booklet in smoky-marbled 9.5x12.5 inch wraps with embossed titling and decoration in bronze, brown and gilt. Description:
Des Moines: Meredith Publishing Company, 1939. Cover story (announced there; cover illustration per se simply an indoor flower-arranger at work) begins with a double-spread on pp20-21 with one half-page b&w photo and ten vignettes and a tiny map of central California, thereafter comprised of 4 or 5 full columns of text scattered in the back of the magazine. Complete issue, 88p with color wraps; front wrap is near fine, back is dampstained with offset blue (no bleed-through), staples are exposed front and back and are quite rusty with a little migration; spine panel has inch-long chips at head and tail. As is, a fair to good-only copy. Richardson's story records some talk with Julius L. Girod, chief of the expo's Bureau of Horticulture, but is mostly general tourist stuff.
