He emigrated from Sweden to the US in 1849.

Includes memorial contributions by Mike Davis, Chude Pam Allen, Angela Davis, John Nichols, Barbara Dane, Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz, Olga Talamante and others.

Bibliographical note from copyright page: "..a new work, first published by Dover in 1995.." Find 45 line portraits on 45 pages, ready to color in with suitable lack of detail. At least the pipe coal was not a cigaret burn.

Each entry includes the individual's affiliations with different leftist political associations. Entries include judges, religious leaders, and several others. Bertrand Russell gets an entry, as does his wife, Dora Russell, the only woman named.

A beautifully produced hardbound in openweave tan cloth boards titled gilt on an orange spine-panel, and enclosed in the publisher's dust jacket. The dust jacket is price-clipped and noticeably rubbed, and a day-glo NYC retailer's label was affixed to the pastedown: these the sole and only flaws we see. Sound, clean and unmarked.
