New York: The Century Co., 1911. First US Edition Thus/Early Printing. Hardcover. Good/N/A. New and enlarged edition. An early printing of John Muir's first published book and one of my personal favorites. In tan pictorial cloth in green and gilt type and design motif and gilt to top page ends. Light wear at corners and some tiny spots of rubbing to spine ends. Puncture to front spine gutter, small stain and some marks to spine and several very small brown spots to rear board. Front hinge split with mull showing, but still solid binding. A couple flowers/leaves pressed in text block that has left just a little discoloration to a few pages, otherwise clean. Illustrated.

New York: Viking Press, 1957. First US Edition/First Printing. Hardcover. Good/Fair. The wonderful first book that the delightful series of the same name was based on. In turquoise boards and grey cloth spine with red and green type and design motif. Top page ends tinted yellow with pale foxing. Corners remarkably sharp and binding solid with some foxing to spine creases as well. Some tanning to top and and front edges of free endpapers and hinges. Some tiny holes to bottoms of boards from silverfish and a few marks to front and bottom page ends. Jacket unclipped($3.95), though some pencil marking over. edges and creases of spine and flaps have seen the industrious work of silverfish resulting in many holes/chips, but still holding. Some scuffing and a few small spots with light fading to spine.

New York: Viking Press, 1968. First Edition Thus. Hardcover. Good/Good. The large type edition in a much larger format than the original edition. In teal green cloth with blue type to spine. An ex-library copy with tape shadows to tops and bottoms of boards and free endpapers, pocket to ffep, stamps to title page and top page ends, and a few words/numbers to copyright and dedication pages. Fairly clean with light wear. Jacket is price-clipped and in jacket protector taped on inside with some paper scarring. Call number sticker to bottom of spine, light edgewear, a few stains and foxing to top inside edge.

A spot and some adhesive residue to bottom of front board(likely from printer) and bump to one corner at head of spine. Sharp corners, clean interior and tight binding. Jacket is unclipped($4.50) with a few nicks to heel of spine, general edgewear, scuff to spine and fading to same common to this edition.

Boards a little warped and some spots/stains to page ends. Previous owner's name to front pastedown, otherwise clean with tight binding. Jacket is unclipped ($12.95) with short tear to top of rear panel and a few nicks at spine ends and light rubbing at corners. Black and white illustrations throughout and some color plates.

In gren pictorial cloth with darker green and gilt to illustration on cover and type. Top page ends gilt. Tiny spots of rubbing through at bottom corners, otherwise sharp with clean interior and solid binding. Large society bookplate to front pastedown. Frontispiece opposite title page and maps/illustrations/photographs throughout.

New York: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1918. Later Edition/Printing. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. In green pictorial cloth with green illustrations and titling. Light edgewear to spine ends. Owner's name, date, address and ""yosemite - 43"" to top of ffep. A small rectangular stain to bottom of ffep where something was laid in place for a while, also tape stains(not scars) to top and bottom of endpapers - assuming where protected jacket rested. Bug hole to top inside of front hinge and rear hinge is beginning to split at top, but still solid. Interior and exterior very clean otherwise. Jacket is very nice with just a few small chip/nicks to spine ends, corners and top edge of flaps, and two 1/2 inch closed tears to top of rear panel and top of rear flap. Later edition/printing based on date of book advertised on rear flap and owner's date - 1925 at the earliest. Three period photos from previous owner laid in.

A lovely copy of this classic.

Fraying to spine ends with just a little loss and rubbing to corners with boards showing at top in spots. Beveled board edges which also show some wear and scuffing, marks and spots to cloth on boards. A little sticker residue with some marking and rippling to ffep and title page which was just holiding on at top and has been reglued. Pages tanned, but otherwise clean and binding still holding.

Binding starting to separate at title page/frontispiece, but still tight and solid. Some lines along text and a few cases of underlining to first chapter. A few photographs throughout.
