This is the cloth covered catalogue limited to 500 copies of which only 250 were available in the United Kingdom. Inscribed to rear "Special Edition No. 211 June 21st 1977". Very good in slightly sunned black cloth with gilt title. Loosely inserted is a list of paintings with prices written alongside, an unused sheet of Frost & Reed Ltd. stationery and a card advertising the exhibition in which the catalogue's limitation is noted.

The letter is addressed to Joe Hope, sometime Head of Fine Arts at Bath Academy of Art from whose estate this letter and envelope comes.

Illustrated throughout, in colour and monochrome, by the Austrian artist, Raphael Kirchner, with text in French and German. Generally very good internally in original wrappers which are foxed and have been reattached to spine where staples have failed. Uncommon.

Paris: L'Assiette au Beurre, 1901. Soft cover. Very Good/No Jacket. A. Guillaume. The special issue of this satirical French magazine concentrating on the status of aviation at the time. Illustrated throughout, in colour and monochrome, with all illustrations satirising the potential future with balloons playing a significant part. Text in French. Generally very good in original wrappers which are a little dusty. With 4 fold out lithographs depicting hunting using falcons instead of hounds, the Parisien Grand-Prix with jockeys riding racing balloons, chaos in the skies with all sorts of flying craft causing congestion and a bullfighting scene with the bull attacking 2 aerial matadors. Complete but mispaginated and with trivial chipping to the edges.

A detailed and well illustrated study of the commemorative medals issued during the reigns of the four sovereigns and including those of George I until his death. Printed in two, separately paginated, parts with 22 full page copper plates in part 1 and 10 similar in part 2 totalling 32 plates as called for. Internally in very good condition, in what appears to be a modern rebind using boards from a contemporary publication which has the remains of a title label on top board and with new endpapers. Title translates as "Commentary on the Leaden Statue of Hadrian and the Isiac Gem Found in the Funeral of the Egyptian" This is a first edition of the study dealing with a lead coin and an Asiatic Gem found in an Egyptian burial. Julius Charles Schlaeger examines the history of Egypt and the cult of Isis to whom the gem is dedicated. Written in Latin, this scholarly study is of particular value to numismatists and contains a number of copper plate illustrations in the text. Schlaeger was an antiquary and numismatist who was the director of the library and medal cabinet of the Duchy of Saxe-Gotha (with acknowledgements to Alde auction house France). A very good copy in full leather, rebacked, with the label on the front pastedown of the Coryton Loan Collection and a penciled note on ffep "from ALB waste paper ca 1948". 1908. No Binding. Very Good/No Jacket. Hugh Thomson. This is the original watercolour, by Hugh Thomson, used for the picture of Eashing in chapter XI of the book by Eric Parker. The image is 11 X 8.5" and is framed and glazed by Edward Walker & Co of Coleraine, N.I., where Hugh Thomson originated. The image is clean and tidy although the inside of the glass has some spots on it and the picture would benefit from reglazing. This is a heavy item and will attract additional P&P if sent outside the UK so kindly contact me for a P&P quotation before ordering. Frame size 20 X 15". This is the original watercolour, by Hugh Thomson, used for the picture of Eashing in chapter XI of the book by Eric Parker.

The artist, Rosemary Grimble, married Adrian Seligman in 1950 and provided the illustrations for this book.
