A fine map showing New York City at center, extending east to Queens and Suffolk Counties, and west through New Jersey to eastern Pennsylvania (including Bucks County). The text responded to the call by New York's Board of Education to increase the study of the governments of the state and city in New York, and became the standard textbook in the eighth grade. One of 750 copies, INSCRIBED by Ford on the half-title to Jane Dransfield "for Xmas 1927." Dransfield (1875-1957) was a playwright, poet, and lecturer on theater.

PRESENTATION COPY, inscribed on the front free endpaper by the author: "To Roy with best wishes from Louis Brinberg". Brinberg was a cardiologist and researcher at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. His work on vector cardiography gained international recognition when he was a research assistant at Mount Sinai from 1957 to 1967. Laid in: 'The Frame of Reference of Three-Dimensional Vectorcardiograms Drawn by a Computer-Driven Cathode Ray Tube," offprint from Cardiovascular Research, v. 3, n.2, pages 227-234, April 1969. Diagrams. Stapled as issued (a tear throughout from the fore-edge). Very scarce offprint from Brinberg.

Richmond Springs NY: Mercury Office, F. E. Mungor, proprietor, 1886. 8vo. 106 pp. 12 plates, illustrations in text, map at end. Original cloth-backed decorated pebbled boards. Binding worn, laks front free endpaper; one plate sprung loose and chipped at edges. FIRST EDITION of this guide to the Richfield Springs in Otsego County, New York. The name was derived from the local sulfur springs that served as a draw for tourists.

New York & London: Columbia University Press, 1968. 8vo. Original cloth; original printed dust jacket. Small tear to upper front joint of jacket, a few small areas of rubbing, otherwise fresh and clean. FIRST EDITION. This was a Frank O'Hara Award winner, and was the first book granted that prestigious title. The award was "specifically intended to encourage the writing of good new experimental poetry and to aid in its publication" (Jacket copy). Ceravolo was 34 at the time of publication, and a civil engineer as well as a poet.

New York: Covici Friede, 1934. A fine copy. 8vo. 301 pages, with indices. Original red cloth. Early owner's name on half-title. FIRST EDITION. Providing readers with a different restaurant choice for every day in the year (unless it's a leap year...). Ross notes in his introduction that there were estimated to be 19,716 eating places in Manhattan at the time: and so his select group of inclusions are those he considered the best, with the finest cuisine, most colorful atmosphere, and the best reliability. "This volume was compiled during the last days of Prohibition and during the first few weeks of Repeal when it was possible to discover which restaurants would obtain wine and liquor licenses and which would not. Ross grouped restaurants thematically, including "For Two Young Things Very Much in Love," "Saturday Night After the Bath is Over," "A Guide to Gluttony," and "Where the Famous Foregather." Yes, he had fun with it.

Smith, folding map colored in outline (mounted on linen); and 20 engraved views on ten sheets, all on india paper mounted, plates 3/4 marked "proof" and plates 19/20 and 21/22 unnumbered and presumed proofs. 19th-century English blue half morocco, marbled boards, gilt-decorated and -lettered on spine, with binder's ticket of Kelly, Gower Place. Boyd: "STATEMENTS / HENRY C. BOYD / March 14th 1859 to June 27th 1866." Several pages have annotations in pencil or ink by Boyd. Bound in are three leaves filled on both sides by him with numbers (regarding attendance, expenses, etc.; and there is evidence of other manuscript interleavings having been removed). (BA).
