London: Hutchinson, 1993. Very Good+ in a Near Fine dustjacket. Purple boards. The spine is stamped in gilt. Octavo. 375pps. First Printing (full numberline). There is a bit of faint dustspotting to the closed page-edges and the text is slightly and uniformly yellowed due to the acid content of the paper (endemic to this title). Otherwise clean, square, and tight. All tips are sharp. No previous ownership markings. The dustjacket, glossy in a mylar sleeve, has a touch of crinkling at the top of the front panel; the original price is intact. A very nice, presentable copy; the 6th book in the Redwall series. ".A shadow has fallen on the shore of the Eastern sea, a shadow called Marshank. In this cold stone fortress a stoat named Badrang holds dozens of innocent creatures as slaves, part of his scheme to build an empire where he will rule as unquestioned tyrant. Among those slaves is a mouse named Martin who has a warrior's heart, and a burning desire for freedom -- freedom not ony for himself, but for… Read More

London: Heinemann, 1953. Fine in a Good dustjacket. Bound in full, light blue cloth. The spine is stamped in gilt. Octavo. 278pps., with numerous black-and-white drawings by Peake. There is very mild rubbing to the tips and the spine-ends, and a small and faint spot to the fore-edge, otherwise clean, tight, square, and bright. The text is immaculate; no previous ownership markings. The dustjacket, glossy in a new mylar sleeve, has a large chip at the bottom of the front panel, a loss of the top 1/4" of the spine panel, and a tear -- mostly closed -- in the middle of the spine. The original price is intact. In short, an excellent copy in a flawed jacket which, with the exception of the large chip, would be graded a Very Good. A scarce and somewhat bawdy title by the author and artist better known for his 'Gormenghast Trilogy,' published between the second and third volumes of that magnum opus.
