He wrote at least four books dealing with Kit Carey, from his cadet days to his being a captain. In this adventure, now a lieutenant, Carey is stationed in the West at the time of westward expansion and the resultant wars between the U.S. army and the Sioux and Cheyenne. The book is bound in brown cloth with color-illustrated front panel and spine, with blue lettering on the front panel, and die-stamped gilt lettering on the spine. The binding is secure and the pages are mainly clean, with no former signatures or inscriptions. It includes a frontis illustration plus other illustrations.
