The mansion was formerly known as “The Mount”, “Mount Pleasant”, “Stewart’s Mount”, or “Stewart’s Castle”. It is a four storey, forty-roomed, granite mansion rising from a hill in the middle of farming paddocks just west of Bathurst. It took from 1870 to 1878 to build the house.
