Illustrated with portraits and colour plates plus additional illustratiions. 7 X10 inches.The book has been rebacked with the original spine laid down. The prior owner of the book was A.R.Cattley whose name is written on the inside corner of the front free endpaper. A.R.Cattley was an artist specialising in illustrations of military uniforms. He has customised this copy with the addition of numerous extra illustrations, (mostly from other sources and not his own work)which have been tipped onto blank pages and blank areas throughout the book, some large and many smaller pictures, some postcards, photos,some cut from other publications, news paper cuttings and original drawings, also tipped in after the main list of illustrations is a two sided handwritten contents list for the additional… Read More

Vellum soiled and cloth neatly repaired at head and heel of spine. Regiment's "death or glory" insignia on upper corner of front cover. Superb colour plates all present. Dedication to General James Wolfe who fell at Quebec, in whose honour this regiment was raised.

Modern binding done by Period Binders, Bath, England with attached label. Prior ownership signature of D.H. Parry on flyleaf. "D.H. Parry 4th August, 1898." Short marginal notes/pencil corrections to the text on a few pages. Parry authored a book on the 17th Lancers in 1898. We have not been able to determine if the notes are in his hand. A fine copy. .
