WHILE sitting in front of Rome's Trevi Fountain in 1972, relaxing and enjoying it, my wife, Peggy, and I first discussed the idea of an organization to support Kansas City's fountains. Upon our return we approached civic leaders, friends, business associates and members of city government, to test the concept and solicit active participation.
