This is the small but striking poster issued in conjunction with H.C. Westermann's March 1974 exhibition at James Corcoran Gallery - his first one-man Los Angeles gallery showing. It reproduces an artwork featuring a watercolor self-portrait with hand-lettering created by the idiosyncratic Chicago-based artist especially for this event. Signed by Westermann on half-title, with his anchor mark drawn below signature. Sculptor and printmaker H. C. Westermann utilized a variety of skilled traditions in fashioning his pieces, notably carpentry. The supposed gap between "fine art" and "craft" is neatly closed by his careful and thought-provoking work.
