First edition, American issue, with "Scribner's" on the spines. Both volumes about very good in the publisher's maroon cloth, decorated in gilt. Spines faded, inner hinges tender, but holding, handsome contemporary bookpalte on the front paste-down of both volumes. Occasional foxing to prelims, edges of the maps gently age-toned. A heavy set, really too jam-packed for its binding; with all faults, still much nicer than usually found, especially in its original binding.
