Incomplete set of 9 volumes (originally published with 10 volumes.) 3/4 Leather with marbled paper boards, the spines have decorative stamp and lettering. The endpapers are plain. Frontispiece in each volume. An attractive set with wear on edges. Plain Tales from the Hills, is more heavily worn and also has a primitive portrait hand drawn in pencil on the ffep; I assume it to be of Kipling as it resembles him, more or less. The former owners name neatly written in ink in a few volumes with 1919 date in one. (Photograph is of Plain Tales, additional photographs available on request.) ; 8vo ; fair .

Raised spine bands, gilt spine titles and decorations, gilt upper text block. Incomplete set, a sequential run from Vol. 6 - Vol. 13. Condition is VERY GOOD+ ; the leather is supple and has no cracks or splits, all joints are excellent. Covers very clean except Vols 6,7, 10 and 13, which have some paler discolorations to the cloth only, Vol. 6 also has some pale stains to the leather of the covers, but not the spine. Bindings all tight and text spotless. A very handsome partial set. Fine Bindings, RGR.

Kipling in 1907 became the first English writer to receive the Nobel Prize.
