Description:
the story of a group of Canadian Army officers who lvolunteered to serve in the British Army in Europe between D-Day, 1944 and VE-Day, 1945, in a scheme called CODE WORD CANLOAN. WILFRED I. SMITH brings a valuable and living memory of the past and the priceless voluntary contribution made by 673 young Canadian officers who came to Britain in 1944 to serve with many British regiments and Royal Army Ordnance Corps. It was a proud moment for me to interview these brave men in their homes... I had the good fortune to have three of these Canloan officers serve with me with great distinction, bravery and loyalty...the writer is an officer of the Order of Canada!
