Mrs. Lane's account of the period from 1854, when she married Lt. Lane, to 1870 when he retired from the service was definitely "Old Army". Written in a plain, factual manner without sentimental nostalgia for the past, this book tells one what it was like to be a soldier on the frontier in the late 1800s; the hardships and the happiness without any modern conveniences. A very presentable and clean copy in excellent condition.
