Undated but circa 1859 10 volume hardcover set as pictured. Titles include Barry Lyndon, Great Hoggarty Etc, The History Of Pendennis Etc, Roundabout Papers, Four Georges Etc, The Virginians, The Adventures Of Philip Etc, Paris, Irish And Eastern Sketches Etc, Henry Esmond, Catherine Denis Duval and Lovel The Widower, Vanity Fair, The Newcomes, and Christmas Books, Book Of Snobs & Ballads. A handsome set in nice condition given their age. No publication date is given but several of volumes include dated notes, the latest of which was the author's dedication from 1859. Bindings are intact in all. Embossed brown boards with black and gold stamping show some edge wear and lightly bumped corners. All are lightly soiled. Vanity Fair and Barry Lyndon show some fraying at head and tail of spine. Patterned endpapers are mottled. Each volume has a tissue guarded frontispiece and multiple illustrations by the author. Dark brown hardbound cloth boards with black design on the spine and cover with black text. There is some wear at the top and bottom of the back strip on all volumes although little wear to the boards. Most of all corners are sharp with no wear (see detailed descriptions). All spines are firm, except for the last volume, which is also missing the front free endpaper. Text blocks are also solid. Age tanning throughout. Set includes 325 wood cut illustrations and 50 steel engravings with tissue guards intact. All interior pages are in excellent condition with no creases, tears, or previous owner marks.
