Bound in black and silver marbled paper with ivory paper faux vellum spine. Rubbed along the edges, as common for copies lacking the slipcase, as this one is. Spine toned, internally very good.

ASSOCIATION COPY INSCRIBED from Hotchkiss to Olson on contents page, "For Nancy/ (Bill thanks you,/ Robinson thanks you)/ - Bill." Specially bound in 8vo full black leather boards (as opposed to the simulated leather used on the regular edition) lettered in gilt on front and spine. Presumably issued without a dust jacket. Special binding not mentioned in Broomfield [A6d]. Near fine.

From the estate of Eric Temple Bell (1883 - 1960), a Scottish-born mathematician and science fiction writer who lived in the United States for most of his life. He published non-fiction using his given name and fiction as John Taine. 8vo. 175 pp. Cream paper spine over decorative paper covered boards,black lettering to spine; housed in publisher's black slicase with paper title label on spine. Darkening to spine else near fine in near very good slipcase (splitting at lower spine; wear to extremities;small loss at spine head opening). "The Women at Point Sur is Jeffers' longest poem, a magnificent narrative almost as long as a novel, fully as interesting as any novel can be, and infinitely more stirring to mind and senses than any prose.

Bookplate of collector Clifton Waller Barrett, small, light stain on front fly, and spine lettering a trifle rubbed, else near fine, lacking the dustwrapper. Inscribed by Jeffers on a tipped-in leaf to the author and occasional hobo: "To Jim Tully, with admiration for his powerful and sincere work. Robinson Jeffers." Unlike most authors, Jeffers seems to have often provided inscriptions meant to be tipped into his books. An attractive copy with a nice association.
