Direct from the library of the late Hugh Selbourne MD (1906-1973) a noted book collector and diarist. This is a short collection of essays by Axel Munthe, it has been published in several languages and editions due to its popularity. It contains fourteen essays by Munthe. Some of these were previously published in magazines, such as 'Toys' which appeared in 'Blackwood' and 'For Those Who Love Music' in Murray's magazine. Axel Munthe was a Swedish born physician and psychiatrist. He is best remembered as the author of 'The Story of San Michele', an autobiographical account of his life and work.
