Publisher's cloth protectors have kept volumes in near pristine condition; gilt titles and cover decorations sharp and bright. Very slight foxing to front edges of textblocks, only noticeable flaw. Contents clean, no marking or writing. 273, 275 pp., numerous illustrations, foldout map. A lovely example of a 19th century 'gift book'

Publisher's red cloth with a decorative design stamped in gold on the front board and spine, gilt tops, red silk book mark. Fine in a very good paper-backed red cloth dustwrapper printed in gold on the spine with small dampstain on rear panel, lacking the slipcase.

Top edge gilt. 275 pp. plus a fold-out map. Illustrated. Very light wear to the spine ends and corners. A gift inscription, dated 1909, is written on the front free endpaper. Otherwise fine in a square, tight binding. The dust jacket has light wear at the spine ends and is slightly faded on the spine. It seems a shame to cover such a gorgeous book with this drab dust jacket, but there you are.. Hard Cover. Near Fine/Near Fine. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
