The Macmillan Co., 1928; same date on title and copyright page, no later printings indicated; 392pp. Some separation starting before title page, otherwise binding remains sturdy and square; rear end page appears to have been (neatly) removed; light wear to edges of gray cloth boards, blue titling remains bold; faint damp-staining apparent at top margin of a few pages at rear end; previous owner inscriptions on front fly-leaf, text otherwise very good throughout. Dust jacket is in two pieces, which are edge-worn with several small chips and closed tears; light toning, dust smudging to panels; faint previous owner name in pencil on front panel; jacket is clipped at bottom edge of front flap, but retains original price of $2.00 at top corner, and arrives wrapped in protective mylar. Ships from Dinkytown in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

This report was divided into two parts: Part I has 379pp; Part II has154pp. Includes numerous folding maps and charts, some are in color. Front hinge nicely repaired

[very nice copy with virtually no wear to book; jacket is lightly soiled, a bit of wear along top and bottom edges, bottom corner of front flap (not price) clipped] Yet another of this astoundingly prolific author's novels, set (as are many, many others) in the Devonshire countryside. The title character is abandoned by her mother as an infant, then has her life get very complicated at the age of seventeen, when her father suddenly comes back into her life. Over the course of a half-century, Phillpotts turned out three or four novels a year; Agatha Christie was an admirer, as was Jorge Luis Borges. And somewhere out there, I think there must be an Eden Phillpotts collector or two (perhaps even a Phillpotts Society!), that would really appreciate this lovely copy. .
