The cover has light corner wear. The spine is darkened and has some end wear. Volume III only..

This book was printed in 2 volumes. This is Volume II (2) only. No print date, but late 1800 since Lovell was only in business during that time. 502 pages. .

This is the fifteenth edition of Volume 3 only of Prescott's esteemed first history, originally published in 1837, but very popular at the time---a surprise hit throughout the period.  With the spine, this would be a very handsome edition, and includes his index to the entire work.  It was issued shortly after Prescott's death by a stroke in early 1859.

This is a roughened copy of this History, a sort of Ruth and Gehrig combination treatment of the life and carreer of the Emperor Charles The Fifth, for some time the most powerful man on the western end of the planet.  Volume I has been listed, Volume II is here described, but Volume III is missing from set.  These volumes could easily fill out similarly incomplete sets---at minimum expense.

This somewhat stressed copy of Volume One of this tag-team 1857 issue is one of the last projects of the eminent historian Prescott, who passed away from stroke in 1859.  Also offered is Volume II of the three volume set.
