Quarto (8" x 11") bound in two-toned cloth and illustrated with numerous facsimiles of Truman's writing, drawings, and photographs in color and black and white. INSCRIBED by the former President as usual in the large blank margin beneath the color frontispiece photograph of Truman at his desk: "My best to Commander and Mrs. Lingo/Harry Truman/White House,/April 26, 1952." Laid in is an index card written on one side in a child's hand: "Dear Mr. President, Please write in this for Mama and Daddy. Thank you. Jane Lingo." Also laid in is a piece of White House stationery with a typed note to have books delivered to Miss Jane Lingo.

An incredible copy, INSCRIBED by Truman as President in the large blank margin beneath the color frontispiece photograph of Truman at his desk: "To Hon. & Mrs. John W. McCormack with/kindest regards for their good friend./White House,/Harry Truman/Dec. 17, 1952." McCormack was a Democratic member from Massachusetts of the United States Congress from 1928 to 1971, serving as Speaker of the House of Representatives under Kennedy and Johnson from 1963 to 1971. Only Tip O'Neill served a longer continuous term as Speaker (10 years).

One of 250, this one SIGNED BY TRUMAN ON THE LIMITATION PAGE AND INSCRIBED TO MATTHEW CONNELLY BENEATH THE FRONTISPIECE: "To a grand man and loyal public servant. Wish we had more like him/Harry Truman". Connelly was the chief investigator for the Senate Special Committee to Investigate the National Defense Program, known as the Truman Committee. He subsequently became Executive Assistant to Senator Truman and later as appointments secretary was a close and trusted aide to the President. His reputation was of a no-nonsense, poker-faced man who knew how to get things done. He was convicted in 1956 for accepting a bribe and eventually served six months in federal prison. Truman, ever loyal to his friends, stood by him throughout his ordeal. Royal blue morocco, gilt-lettered backstrip and quotation to front board.
